Overview - Brief Description of Feature This feature allows the customer to retrieve controller physical asset information including make/model/serial # as well as IP and MAC address. Problem - What Problem Does the Feature Solve? 4690 provide limited controller asset information through its Vital Product Data file and it now provides expanded information through its RMA capabilities. This feature of InSight provides expanded information similar to RMA and is a simplified option for customers that aren't able to run JAVA and RMA in their controllers or manage their systems using JMX-based facilities. Solution - Short Description of How the Feature Works The controller components of InSight gathers machine information from the system SMBIOS, lan adapters, etc. This information is maintained in the InSight Controller Agent in-memory and disk databases and is retrievable from the InSight Management APIs or by direct access to asset information files. |
