Overview - Brief Description of Feature The Terminal Base Feature is the framework on which most of the other terminal features are built. The primary component of the Terminal Base is the InSight Terminal Agent. The Terminal Agent is a system driver and background process that monitors activity in the terminal, provides system extentions and communicates with the controller agent. Problem - What Problem Does the Feature Solve? InSight originated partly from a customer request for remote control and monitoring of POS Terminals for use by field service personnel. In order to provide this capability, a mechanism was needed to to add an 'agent' to the 4690 terminals similar to the way agents can be added to non-proprietary platforms such as Windows and Linux. Solution - Short Description of How the Feature Works The InSight Terminal Agent is designed and structured very similarly to the 4690 native IO Processor which is a combined device driver and system process. |
