Overview - Brief Description of Feature The feature provides functionality that allows remote users to control the terminal. Includes functions that allow an authorized remote user to send in keystrokes and scan data. Also, a remote user can request a snapshot dump, a full terminal dump, a full terminal reload or an application reload. Problem - What Problem Does the Feature Solve? Provides authorized development, testing, help desk, field service, loss prevention and store management associates a way to remotely send in keyboard or other device input to remotely operate a terminal. Solution - Short Description of How the Feature Works InSight's management APIs and data model support the ability to send input for various devices. This feature is configurable by policy and can be configured to allow only certain classes of users to have access. Note that cash drawer open commands are ignored if the last input came from a remote user. A local user must press a key in order for the cash drawer to open. |
